George Gabriel

September 8, 1929 – August 9, 2023

George Gabriel was born in Monroe, Louisiana on September 8, 1929. He joined the newly created "Air Force" in 1948. In the early '50s worked on becoming an exemplary salesperson of medical implements in the New Orleans area. The opportunity of selling laboratory equipment became his main interest. George eventually left Louisiana for the Northeast. With his partner he started Lab Products in the 1960's and it eventually grew into several divisions that included BioMedic Data Systems, Harford Systems and Hydropac.

While a part of this very new industry George became a strong supporter of the AALAS organization and Lab Products never missed exhibiting at any of the meetings. When the AALAS Foundation was formed, George served on the Board for several years and was the very first financial supporter of the Foundation. George flew to Tennessee to donate that first contribution to the Foundation on behalf of Lab Products and BioMedic Systems. That tradition has continued.

At age 90 George retired and sold the company he had chaired for over 60 years. He passed away peacefully at age 93 on August 9, 2023. He was an amazing, creative, caring and gentle man who achieved his dreams of a loving family, creating a business and having myriad friends and acquaintances. George will be remembered for his love, kindness, generosity and laughter.

Give in memory of George Gabriel and keep his passion alive through the AALAS Foundation.
